The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Botswana, in collaboration with the Government, is supporting small-scale farmers in the Okavango District to adapt to the growing challenges of climate change.
Recently, 400 cluster farmers in Sekondomboro, Mohembo East and Etsha 8 received walk-behind tractors and were trained in the use of climate-resilient agricultural techniques. The initiative is aimed at enhancing their capacity to commercialise production while promoting sustainable farming practices.
As climate change continues to affect global food systems, it is critical that farmers are equipped with innovative solutions that improve productivity and safeguard the environment.
This project forms part of a broader response to Botswana’s food security challenges, helping to build resilience at grassroots level and drive long-term agricultural transformation.
